You do not need a visa for travel to Turkey for stays of less than 90 days.

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date to Canada.

Money Matters

The Turkish lira trades at around 13.90 for 1 CAD. Turks expect to be paid in lira rather than in foreign currency.

INCLUDED: The cost of the land portion includes ground and sea transportation, accommodation, meals as per the program, activities, and visits outlined in the itinerary.

NOT INCLUDED: International airfare, travel insurance (mandatory), meals not included, personal purchases, beverages, and tips.

It is advisable to bring cash (small denominations) in U.S. dollars or euros. Credit cards can be used for larger expenses. ATMs work very well. Cash advances on credit cards are possible in banks, but at unfavorable rates.

Health

For vaccinations and immunization, it is essential to consult the nearest Travel Clinic (or Community Health Department). Only a qualified physician can advise you on the appropriate vaccines. When visiting the Travel Clinic, bring a copy of your itinerary. All medications, whether prescription or over-the-counter, must be carried in their original packaging. If applicable, a copy of your prescription may be useful.

Your personal kit may include, for example, the following items: Tylenol or Aspirin, Band-Aid type bandages, gel or other blister bandages, Cipro (a broad-spectrum antibiotic prescribed by a doctor), rehydration salts such as Gastrolyte, Imodium (for occasional diarrhea), anti-constipation medication, etc.

Safety

You should follow basic safety guidelines as in most destinations around the world: avoid wearing flashy jewelry or luxury items; wear your money belt under your clothing; keep only a small amount of cash in the wallet you use for daily expenses; and do not go alone into crowded areas of the city.

We recommend that you keep your passport and money with you at all times, even at night, for example under your pillow.
